Unclaimed property: $186K and counting
So far in 2026, my team has helped local residents get more than $186K of their own money back from the state’s Unclaimed Property Program. The money often comes from closed bank accounts, insurers, utilities, and medical facilities, and it’s often unclaimed because of misspelled names or incorrect addresses. In fact, one in ten Pennsylvanians has unclaimed property, with the average claim exceeding $1,000.
To see if you have unclaimed property waiting for you, visit here. You can also stop by my district office and my staff will be happy to help you search the database and complete the paperwork to apply.

Stay safe and cool in Allegheny County this summer
To help everyone stay safe when temperatures rise, I want to share some important tips and resources from state and county officials:
Be sure to check on neighbors, friends, and relatives—especially older adults, those with health conditions, and those without air conditioning—and remember these additional heat-related tips from the Allegheny County Emergency Services:
- Limit time outdoors, especially mid-day
- Never leave kids or pets in a car
- If you need to be outdoors, be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, nausea, headache, or excessive sweating.
- When in doubt, take a break, cool down and seek help.
