Rep. Anita Astorino Kulik June 3, 2026 | 9:58 AM
HARRISBURG, June 3 – PA House Game and Fisheries Committee Chair Rep. Anita Kulik announced today that the state House has passed her legislation that would create a mentored youth trapping licensing program to encourage young people to participate in Pennsylvania’s trapping tradition.
House Bill 2365 would allow for a program where young people would work under or with an experienced, licensed mentor to learn about trapping and furtaking, similar to the current mentored youth hunting program.
“By drawing on the experience and expertise of our established trappers, we can provide our youth with mentorships that offer hands-on training emphasizing responsible, lawful trapping techniques,” said Kulik, D-Allegheny. “Mentoring is key to recruiting and retaining younger participants and to continuing to build our trapping heritage as we look to the future.”
The bill now advances to the Pennsylvania Senate for consideration.
