Improvements in women’s health care have been one of the greatest success stories of Pennsylvania’s House Democratic majority.

Since 2023 Speaker McClinton has steered more than a half dozen laws through the legislature to improve or protect women’s access to care.

This includes policies to expand access to lifesaving preventative care – like breast cancer screenings and to collect data on Black maternal mortality to drive policy solutions.

Pennsylvania is now providing more resources for new and expecting moms, like coverage for doula services and information about postpartum depression.

The commonwealth has also prohibited pelvic exams without informed consent and have made menstrual products available in our schools.

Plus, the House Democratic majority is preventing any effort to reduce access to or criminalize abortion care in Pennsylvania.

For years, women’s health was not at the top of the legislative agenda, but now, with leadership from Speaker McClinton and other members of the Women’s Health and the Black Maternal Health caucuses, women’s health is at the forefront.
