Local Organizations Receive State Support

I was pleased to have helped secure $155K in state funding for improvements at the Public Library of Catasauqua and Catasauqua American Legion Post 215.

These investments will help keep both community institutions safe, accessible and in good condition for years to come.

Happy 100th Birthday, Betty!!!

I was honored to present a PA State House citation to Betty Duffy in recognition of her 100th birthday! Betty’s friends at the Whitehall Active Community Center threw her a wonderful party. We celebrated a little early, but please join me in honoring this amazing woman!

Betty was one of the very first Meals on Wheels Greater Lehigh Valley Volunteers. She still rides along to deliver meals to seniors! Thank you for all that you do to make people’s lives better!

Meet Northampton Community College Student Jace Pooley

It was my pleasure to meet Jace Pooley at my office. Jace is an intern with Communication 4 ALL. He lives in Bethlehem and is a non-speaker. Jace communicated through writing until he learned how to type three years ago. He now uses a keyboard to communicate. He’s a smart, amazing young man and is working toward an associate degree in Psychology at Northampton Community College. I hope you’ll wish him good luck with his studies!

Hanover Township Community Day

I had a wonderful time at Hanover Township Community Day a few weeks back! I was joined by my colleague, Sen. Nick Miller, and by Lehigh Valley Active Life’s Executive Director, Rick Daugherty.

Voter Registration Information

It's never too early to prepare to vote in this November's General Election. Here are some important dates to know:

Oct. 19: Last day to register to vote / vote.pa.gov/register
Oct. 27: Last day to request a mail-in or absentee ballot: vote.pa.gov/ApplyMailBallot
Nov. 3: General Election Day / Polls are open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Measles Update for Pennsylvania – How to Stay Protected

Last week, state health officials reported two measles-associated deaths in Lancaster County and outlined a statewide effort to protect residents. Since the April outbreak, there have been 393 confirmed cases across 28 counties. Access to the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine has expanded, with more than 4,100 vaccinations delivered at 91 pop-up clinics and 40 more clinics planned. In July 2026 alone, more than 35,000 Pennsylvanians received the MMR vaccine—about 10,000 more than in a typical month.

If you or your children are unvaccinated or unsure of your status, please schedule an MMR vaccination as soon as possible; two doses provide about 97% lifetime protection. If you believe you were exposed and develop a fever, cough, runny nose, red or watery eyes, or a rash that starts on the head and spreads downward, isolate and contact your healthcare provider or call DOH at 877-PA-HEALTH (877-724-3258). Current guidance, the measles dashboard, and vaccination locations are available at pa.gov/measles.

PA ABLE

The PA ABLE Savings Program has expanded its age limit, allowing thousands more Pennsylvanians with disabilities to save tax free for their futures. Individuals whose disability began before age 46—up from the previous limit of 26—can now open an account without jeopardizing essential benefits like Medical Assistance (Medicaid) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Since 2017, more than 11,500 Pennsylvanians have saved nearly $185 million through PA ABLE. Participants can contribute up to $20,000 annually, use funds for a wide range of disability-related expenses, and deduct contributions from Pennsylvania state income taxes.

Labor Day Office Hours
