Free Shredding Event Set for Nov. 21 in Catasauqua

If you have old paperwork piling up at home, here’s an opportunity to clear it out while helping protect your personal information.

I’m partnering with state Sen. Nick Miller to host a free shredding event on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon at Francis H. Sheckler Elementary School, 251 N. 14th St., Catasauqua.

Residents of Catasauqua Borough, Coplay Borough and Hanover Township in Lehigh County are welcome to participate. Each vehicle may bring up to five boxes or five bags of documents for secure on-site shredding.

Accepted materials include old bills, bank and credit card statements, insurance and income tax records, canceled or unused checks, credit card applications and other paperwork containing personal information, such as Social Security or account numbers.

Please note that this event is for paper shredding only.

I hope you’ll take advantage of this free service to safely dispose of sensitive documents and clear out some clutter.

State Police Launches Blue Envelope Program to Support People with Disabilities

The Pennsylvania State Police has launched the statewide Blue Envelope Program to improve communication during law enforcement encounters for people with disabilities, including autism, intellectual disabilities, and dementia.

The voluntary program allows individuals and families to use a recognizable blue envelope to share important information—such as communication preferences, sensory needs, and other considerations—with officers during a traffic stop.

Pennsylvanians can pick up blue envelopes at their local Pennsylvania State Police station. The envelopes will also be available at select community events hosted by the PSP Office of Community Engagement.

To find your local station and its contact information, visit the Pennsylvania State Police Troop Directory.

The program provides an additional tool to help officers better understand the needs of individuals with disabilities and support safer, more accessible interactions.
