STROUDSBURG, Sept. 15 – State Rep. Tarah Probst announced today that eight projects in her legislative district have been awarded a combined $986,911 in state funding through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Local Share Account Statewide program. The grants will support projects that improve emergency services, modernize local infrastructure, strengthen community organizations and make communities across Monroe and Pike counties better places to live. “These investments will have a direct impact on our communities and the people who live here,” Probst said. “Whether it’s helping our first responders replace aging equipment, improving our wastewater system, making community facilities safer or supporting organizations that serve our neighbors, these grants are putting state dollars to work where they are needed most. HARRISBURG, Sept. 14 – With only six scheduled session days remaining in the 2025-26 legislative session, state Rep. Tarah Probst is urging the Pennsylvania Senate to take immediate action on two separate bills that would provide relief to Pennsylvanians facing significant financial pressures. House Bill 1257 would expand property tax relief for disabled veterans and their surviving spouses, while H.B. 1250 would protect residents of mobile home parks from excessive lot-rent increases, particularly seniors and people living on fixed incomes. “These bills address two very different problems, but they have one thing in common: real people in our communities are struggling right now,” Probst said. “We have only days left to move these bills forward. The Senate needs to stop playing games and start doing its job.” Probst is the prime sponsor of H.B. 1257, which proposes a constitutional amendment to exempt from property taxes veterans who are deemed at least 50% disabled, regardless of whether their disability resulted from combat service. The legislation would also guarantee these benefits for eligible surviving spouses, including spouses of veterans who were killed in action, taken prisoner, or went missing in action. The bill passed the state House by an overwhelming 202-1 vote in July and is currently before the Senate State Government Committee. Read more

Tarah Probst today announced $19,000 in Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission Cultural and Historical Support Grants for the Monroe County Historical Association and Pike County Historical Society. “I’m proud to support these important local institutions and the work they do to preserve our region’s history,” Probst said. “These grants will help ensure our historical organizations can continue educating residents, welcoming visitors and sharing the stories that define our communities.” The Monroe County Historical Association will receive $9,500, supported through a partnership between Probst and state Rep. Maureen Madden. The funding will support general operations and staff salaries at the Stroud Mansion Museum and Library and its new Heritage Center. The historic Stroud Mansion, which was built in 1795, began housing the Monroe County Historical Association in 1921. It reopened in May 2026 following a three-year construction project that added a 13,000-square-foot Heritage Center. The Monroe County Historical Association preserves and promotes the region’s history and operates a museum, research library and year-round programming. Tarah Probst today announced the award of a $3 million Multimodal Transportation Fund state grant to support the replacement of the superstructure of the Winona Falls Road Bridge here in Pike County. The county-owned bridge has recently been classified as being in very poor condition, reducing its load rating to 15 tons. The grant will fund the immediate replacement of the failing bridge superstructure. Tarah Probst today announced that the East Stroudsburg Area School District has been awarded a $38,750 state grant through the state Transportation Department’s School Bus Safety Grant Program to help recruit and train new school bus drivers. The funding is part of a statewide investment of more than $1.1 million announced by the Shapiro administration to help 26 schools and transportation providers across 19 Pennsylvania counties train more than 430 new school bus drivers. HARRISBURG, June 25 – State Rep. Tarah Probst voted to advance legislation on Monday that would strengthen how Pennsylvania supports students while ensuring taxpayers can clearly see how their dollars are being used—including for students in Monroe and Pike counties who benefit from these programs. House Bill 2632 would maintain the full $680 million currently allocated to the Educational Improvement Tax Credit and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit programs for the 2026-27 fiscal year. The legislation would also expand eligibility for early childhood education programs serving children from birth to age 2, broaden access for some of Pennsylvania’s lowest-income students and strengthen reporting and oversight requirements so taxpayers can better understand how scholarship funds are distributed and who benefits from the program. “Unfortunately, there has been a lot of misinformation circulating about this bill,” Probst said. “Contrary to recent text messages sent by a third party to residents throughout Monroe and Pike counties, this legislation would not cut a single dollar from these scholarship programs. STROUDSBURG, June 24 – State Rep. Tarah Probst has officially challenged recent environmental permits issued for construction in Stroud Township after approval by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, along with coordinated branches of the federal government. By filing an appeal with the state’s Environmental Hearing Board, she is asking for a formal permit review to make sure the state followed all the rules correctly before allowing development to move forward. “My job is to protect our community’s environment, including our streams and wetlands,” Probst said. “When companies build in our area, they must follow strict rules to prevent flooding, erosion, and pollution. This appeal is about making sure those rules were actually followed and that our natural resources are not at risk.” Probst has stated that she has personal standing for these appeals as a resident of Stroudsburg, the neighboring borough to Stroud Township.
