HARRISBURG, Jan. 5 – State Rep. Perry Warren took the oath of office at the state Capitol today to begin his third term representing the 31st District in Bucks County The noon swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of the 2021-22 session of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Washington County Judge Brandon Neuman, a former House member, administered the oath of office. Warren said he will focus on COVID-19 relief; child protection in custody cases (Kayden’s Law); economic development and job creation; infrastructure; community safety; and environmental protection in the new term. HARRISBURG, Dec. 30 – State Reps. Tim Briggs and Mary Jo Daley, both D-Montgomery, announced that Lower Merion Conservancy was awarded a state grant to support green stormwater infrastructure projects. The $184,960 Growing Greener grant will support Lower Merion Conservancy’s Growing Greener Streets project, which aims to work with private property owners to install residential-scale green stormwater infrastructure. Twenty-five property owners have already signed on and more will be recruited. “This funding will help protect our waterways. I’m pleased to see this grant awarded to Lower Merion Conservancy to help private property owners undertake this work and ultimately inspire others to make environmentally friendly changes as well,” Briggs said. “It’s encouraging to know that many private property owners have already signed up for this project to improve stormwater management and keep pollutants out of our streams and rivers. ABINGTON, Dec. 30 – State Rep. Ben Sanchez announced that Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership was awarded a $543,250 state grant to support a stormwater management project. HARRISBURG, Dec. 29 – State representatives and senators from Delaware County applauded a $1.5 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program award to strengthen the county’s 911 system. Through bipartisan efforts, elected officials helped secure grants to benefit more than 560,000 Pennsylvanians and help Delaware County’s first responders. This project will strengthen the security and reliability of the county’s public safety communication system. HARRISBURG, Dec. 9 – State Rep. Perry Warren, D-Bucks, is reintroducing several bills from the 2019-20 legislative session for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ 2021-22 session. “In the new session, I’m reintroducing legislation that would safeguard people’s finances, ensure adults’ and children’s health and safety, and protect the environment,” Warren said. “My legislation aims to make Pennsylvania more prosperous, safer and healthier for all.” Warren said that he intends to space the reintroduction of the bills out over the next several months, and he is working with legislative staff on revisions to other bills. Among the bills he is reintroducing now are: Formerly H.B. 328, the “ Flood Insurance Premium Assistance Task Force ” legislation would seek to reduce rising flood insurance premiums by issuing recommendations regarding potential programs that provide premium discounts or incentivize local governments to support flood mitigation efforts, and implement any necessary changes to state statute or policy regarding the administration of flood insurance. HARRISBURG, Dec. 4 – State Rep. Tina Davis, D-Bucks today announced vital state support for the U.S. Steel Fairless Hills revitalization project. The project will redevelop the 1,811-acre former industrial site into a diverse business park as part of a Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ) established through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. “Bucks County is a great place to do business – we have a strong workforce, excellent schools, and we’re a short drive to one third of the nation’s population – and more employers than ever are looking to move here,” Davis said. “That’s why I advocated for the Fairless Hills KOZ – to attract more employers to create jobs with family-sustaining wages and benefits.
