Church Road and Greenwood Avenue Improvement Project

Traffic Alert and Multiple Road Closures: PennDOT and Cheltenham Township have notified our office construction has begun and will last through July 2nd, 2026. SIGNIFICANT delays are to be expected:

  1. Wednesday, October 15th, through Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, westbound Route 73 (Church Road) will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Rices Mill Road and the Curtis Arboretum entrance. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Washington Lane, Route 309 (Cheltenham Avenue), Ogontz Avenue, and Easton Road.
  2. Wednesday, October 15th, through Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, southbound Greenwood Avenue will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Spruce Lane and Barker Road. A full closure of E. Waverly Road between S. Keswick Ave and Rices Mill Road is scheduled to begin Friday, February 13 for the replacement of Montgomery County Bridge 275 over the Tookany Creek, adjacent to Glenside Memorial Hall. A full detour will be implemented using S. Keswick Avenue and E. Glenside Avenue.

The bridge will be closed to all vehicles, but pedestrian access to Glenside Hall will be maintained through the completion of the project.

Additional details regarding the project site and detour are available on the County's project website. The project is expected to be completed in April 2028.

Springfield Township Administration, Parks & Recreation, and Public Works offices will be closed on Monday, February 16 in observance of Presidents Day. Offices will reopen on Tuesday for normal business hours.
