Rep. Hill-Evans and colleagues announce 'Diaper Need Awareness Week' in Pennsylvania.

(Sep 27, 2021)

HARRISBURG, Sept. 27 – A group of House Democrat legislators unveiled their plan to raise awareness to a growing epidemic of many families and seniors on fixed incomes who are unable to afford disposable diapers and undergarments. State Reps. Carol Hill-Evans, D-York; Tina Davis, D-Bucks; Kyle Mullins, D-Lackawanna; and Eddie Day Pashinski, D-Luzerne, were joined by their legislative colleagues to announce their diaper drive campaign. “Affordable and equitable access to clean diapers establishes a healthy foundation for every infant, while incontinence products help our older adults with their needs,” Hill-Evans said. “Throughout the fall legislative session, I will continue to advocate for my bills that are currently in the House Health Committee – bills that address basic needs and help families with financial burdens for the 1 in 3 U.S. families that experience diaper need.” Davis said it’s heartbreaking to think that a child could remain in a soiled diaper just because there are not enough diapers to go around. “Diaper Need Awareness Week should serve as a reminder to all of us that a lack of diapers for infants and toddlers, and incontinence products for adults, is a public health issue that needs to be addressed,” Davis said. “A third of families are struggling to provide this essential need, an alarming statistic considering we are talking about the basic needs of both seniors and children Read more

House Democrats to Republican colleagues: ‘Stop the charade’

(Sep 20, 2021)

House Democratic leadership issued the following statement today calling on legislative Republicans to drop their radical anti-health agenda and come to the table for an honest discussion on helping Pennsylvanians recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.“Pennsylvania is currently experiencing a steady increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations with a positive testing rate that indicates substantial or high community spread of the virus. Our hospital system is strained and emergency rooms in both central Pennsylvania and southwestern Pennsylvania recently have been forced to divert ambulances simply because they couldn’t accept additional patients. State lawmakers announce $1.75M flood assistance program for Bucks residents

(Sep 15, 2021)

BRISTOL, Sept. 15 – State Rep. Tina Davis, D-Bucks, along with state Sen. Robert “Tommy” Tomlinson, R-Bucks, today announced the opening of a flood relief assistance program to aid Bucks County residents affected by the severe weather and flash flooding on July 12. Also in attendance at the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority in Bristol Wednesday afternoon were Rep. K.C. Tomlinson, R-Bucks, Bristol Township Council President Craig Bowen, Bensalem Mayor Joe DiGirolamo, Bucks County Redevelopment Authority representatives Board President Sean Schaefer and Executive Director Jeff Darwak. The Neighborhood Flood Assistance Program is funded by a $1.75 million grant secured by the lawmakers from the Department of the Community and Economic Development and will be administered by BCRDA. The program’s goal is to offer financial support to those who faced significant property loss or damage and were uninsured or underinsured. Assistance will not be given to landlords, businesses, or non-profit organizations. “I’m very glad to have been instrumental in securing this critical state funding for our residents who have been struggling since the July 12 th storm and flash foods destroyed their homes and so upended their lives,” Davis said. “Many have been forced to relocate in the storm’s aftermath. This state money will help our neighbors come home once again to rebuild their homes and their Read more
