Rose Tree Media School District selected to receive $2.5 million state grant award for transportation project

MEDIA, Aug. 18 – Delaware County state lawmakers whose legislative districts encompass Rose Tree Media School District announced today that RTMSD has been selected by the state Transportation Department for state funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) to complete a crucial road project.

Rose Tree Media School District will receive $2,516,291 to realign Rose Tree Road
as proposed in the PA352/US Route 1 project to enhance traffic throughout the area as local consideration of the new K-1 School continues, according to state Reps. Lisa Borowski (D-168th), Leanne Krueger (D-161st), and Jennifer O’Mara (D-165th).

“This is a significant investment of state dollars in our local infrastructure. Realigning Rose Tree Road will make this stretch of roadway safer and more accessible for students, families, pedestrians and everyone who travels through the area,” Borowski said. “State funding can help supplant local dollars for important projects and shift the cost off local taxpayers. I'm excited to bring state dollars home to help communities keep up with local development needs.”

“I’m excited to see this funding awarded to Rose Tree Media School District and the impact it will have on accelerating necessary road improvements ahead of the construction of our new elementary school,” Krueger said. “I know our families are eager to see this project move forward. Grants like these help our school districts do more, faster, so that our students can prosper.”

“Our school districts and communities depend on grants like this, and my Delco colleagues and I are constantly advocating for these projects,” O’Mara said. “I supported a state budget that is funding these projects, and I’m pleased to see this money coming back for the road project in Rose Tree Media School District.”
