Krueger-Braneky announces $1.5 million RACP grant for Bruder Life Center

ASTON, Nov. 23 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger-Braneky, D-Delaware, announced today a $1.5 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant for the Bruder Life Center at Neumann University. “The Bruder Life Center is an integral part of life for students of Neumann University,” Krueger-Braneky said. “The increased educational opportunities, along with the ability to host programs for the community, are integral in raising the already well-regarded reputation of Neumann.” Neumann University’s RACP will go toward construction to strengthen the multi-use student and community cultural and social center’s ability to support campus life and the surrounding community. The RACP is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. Read more

State lawmaker says Keystone Exams need a fix

The current class of high school seniors in Pennsylvania was supposed to be the first required to pass the Keystone Exams for graduation. Lawmakers have pushed that back two years, but one lawmaker believes the Keystone Exams need further scrutiny before they can be used as a graduation requirement. Democratic Representative Leanne Krueger-Braneky says schools across the state have had trouble implementing the Keystone Exams and it's had a negative impact on students. Read more

Officials voice concerns about Keystone exams

Members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Democratic Policy Committee on Monday convened at Northley Middle School and listened to more than two hours of testimony related to graduation requirements and high-stakes testing. Discussion was specifically centered around the Keystone graduation requirement, originally scheduled to go into effect with the class of 2017, but with the passage of House Bill 880 in February 2016, the implementation of the requirement was delayed until the 2018-2019 school year.
