This comes days after a national audit questioned the allocation of funds within the Chester Community Charter School, which the school on Thursday denied any wrongdoing in a statement, and contested the claims made in a published report. State lawmaker says Keystone Exams need a fix

The current class of high school seniors in Pennsylvania was supposed to be the first required to pass the Keystone Exams for graduation. Lawmakers have pushed that back two years, but one lawmaker believes the Keystone Exams need further scrutiny before they can be used as a graduation requirement. Democratic Representative Leanne Krueger-Braneky says schools across the state have had trouble implementing the Keystone Exams and it's had a negative impact on students. Read more

Officials voice concerns about Keystone exams

Members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives Democratic Policy Committee on Monday convened at Northley Middle School and listened to more than two hours of testimony related to graduation requirements and high-stakes testing. Discussion was specifically centered around the Keystone graduation requirement, originally scheduled to go into effect with the class of 2017, but with the passage of House Bill 880 in February 2016, the implementation of the requirement was delayed until the 2018-2019 school year. Leanne Krueger-Braneky, D-Delaware, issued the following statement in light of news that hundreds of millions of tax dollars from Pennsylvania, invested through the Pennsylvania Public School Retirement System (PSERS), are benefiting Energy Transfer Partners (ETP): "The scene we have seen out of North Dakota is deeply disturbing. Videos are emerging of peaceful protesters being pepper sprayed and attacked by vicious dogs handled by a private security force associated with Energy Transfer Partners. It is unacceptable that members of North Dakota’s Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, who are simply trying to preserve sacred burial grounds and protect the environment they depend on to live, are being treated this way.
